Introduction
At Fast Track Building Approvals, our services include inspections of existing pools, the issuance of Construction Certificates (CC) and Complying Development Certificates (CDC) for new pools, and comprehensive pool and pool barrier inspections to ensure the design and construction comply with Australian building regulations and safety standards.
- Our inspections make sure your pool is fully compliant with the most recent AS 1926.1‑2024 pool-safety regulations. We check every aspect of your barrier and access points — including:
- Barrier & gate heights: Internal pool fences must be at least 1.2 metres high. If a boundary fence is used as part of the pool barrier, it must be 1.8 metres high (measured from the pool-side ground level).
- Gaps and openings: The gap between the bottom of the fence and the ground must not exceed 100 mm; gaps between vertical pickets or rails must also be no more than 100 mm.
- Non-Climbable Zones (NCZs): We ensure there is a clear NCZ around the barrier — meaning no trees, shrubs, furniture, toys, ladders, or other objects that could be used to climb, within 900 mm of the fence’s outside, inside, or above.
- Gate functionality: Gates must swing outwards (away from the pool area), self-close, and self-latch from any open position — with latches and hinges installed to meet the updated standard’s reliability requirements.
- Barrier condition & maintenance: The fence, gates, latches and hinges must all be in good working order — no damage, corrosion, gaps or structural weaknesses that could compromise safety.
Why Pool Compliance Certificates Matter
- Safety First
They help reduce the risk of accidental drowning by confirming that safety barriers are effective and legally compliant. - Legal Protection
A valid compliance certificate may be required by your local council for regulatory purposes or when selling your property. - Insurance Requirements
Many home insurance policies require evidence that your pool safety features meet current compliance standards. - Confidence and Property Value
Holding a valid compliance certificate provides peace of mind for you, prospective buyers, and regulatory authorities, while strengthening buyer confidence during a sale.
